How to Apply

There are two ways in which you can submit your resume and application.  The preferred application method is the online Resume Builder, but you may also apply with a paper resume and State of Minnesota Employment Application.

Online Resume Builder
You are strongly encouraged to submit your resume and supplemental information through the Online Resume Builder. You may copy and paste your existing resume into the Resume Builder program or use the software to create a resume.  The Resume Builder also collects supplemental information about your work preferences (such as employment condition, shift and job location preferences and minimum acceptable salary)  Once you submit your resume through Resume Builder, your resume will be maintained in the Resumix applicant-tracking database for 12 months or until you are hired. 

If you would like to ensure consideration for a specific vacancy, you must also apply for the job once you submit your resume through Resume Builder.  By using the Resume Builder, you are able to apply electronically for current vacancies via the State Employment Website.  You may also edit and re-submit your resume information electronically should your contact information, experience, or work preferences change.

Application Form and Resume 
You may apply by submitting a State of Minnesota Employment Application  and typed resume to the Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB), 200 Centennial Office Building, 658 Cedar Street, St. Paul, MN 55155-1603.  Faxed copies will not be accepted.  If you are applying for a specific vacancy, you will need to list the Job Classification title and/or Posting Number in the Specific Opening area of application form to ensure that you are appropriately referred.  Once you submit your resume and application, your resume will be scanned and maintained in the Resumix applicant-tracking database for 12 months or until you are hired. 

After your resume has been submitted and scanned, you will be able to apply for current vacancies by calling the 24-hour Job Information Line at 651-296-2616 (Twin Cities metro area) or 1-800-657-3974 (outside the Twin Cities metro area).  You will need to use your identification number, which you will receive on a postcard from Minnesotas Management and Budget, to apply for jobs via the Job Information Line.

If you apply by submitting a paper resume and application, you will need to mail another resume to Minnesota Management and budget in order to update your resume information.  However, you will be able to update your work preferences, which are collected on the application form, by calling the 24-hour Job Information Line and using your identification number.
